About Maria

Maria Wood (previously Maria Kinsella) is the founder of Courting the Horse, the online magazine which aims to highlight the gentlest and most enlightened methods of working and living with horses.

Maria loves being outside (which is just as well) and her horses Hazel and Pollyanne have given her the excuse she needs to spend loads of time in the wind, rain and sun.  She has always loved learning and since her husband Chris first suggested that they needed to buy Hazel in order to ensure her wellbeing she has made a point of finding the best possible ways to look after horses.  This living in the field project is just another learning opportunity, a chance to take things a step further.

Maria and Chris live in Co. Clare, Ireland with their two horses, two dogs, two kittens, one veg garden and one polytunnel full of scrumptous food.  They would like to live a simple life but of course we keep finding too many fascinating things to fill out time with…one day.

www.courtingthehorse.com was founded in December of 2009 and is now focussing mainly on bringing high quality interviews with people in the areas of horsemanship, health, equine assisted therapies and equine rescue.  We also have some short films and other articles on these topics to enjoy.
